Entrevista a Ono (plataformas y modo on-line de SFIV)

Esta vez hablan de:

  • No están confirmadas las plataformas, ni siquiera si habrá versión arcade, aunque podría haberla y también de PC.
  • La versión que jugaron era un PC de desarrollo metido en una cabina arcade.
  • No piensan sacarlo primero en arcade para tomar nota y corregir cosas de cara a las versiones de consola.

  • Quieren mirar las cosas buenas y malas de cada consola, ademas de saber qué quieren sus usuarios, para modelar el juego respecto a ello.
  • Incluso si lo sacasen para PS2 y DS examinarían de cerca estos mercados y al tipo de usuarios que las tienen para adaptarse mejor a sus necesidades y a las de la plataforma.
  • No cree en las exclusividades, lo sacarán en todas plataformas que les sea posible, saben que mucha gente ha seguido esta saga e intentarán hacérselo llegar a cuanta más gente les sea posible. Es su idea como productor.
  • Aunque viendo la calidad gráfica habrán muchas cosas que requerirán mucha potencia técnica para hacer las cosas de forma adecuada, lo portarán a todo aquello que Capcom considere apropiado.
  • Están siguiendo el patron habitual de los juegos recientes de Capcom (Dead Rising, Lost Planet, DMC4): primero desarrollan en ordenador una versión básica del juego con tecnología propia de Capcom y después la portan al hardware que toque.
  • Tiene la misma filosofía multiplataforma que los títulos multiplataforma recientes de Capcom (los citados arriba). Aunque no usa el mismo engine porque un juego de lucha es algo muy específico, está todo pensado para llevarlo a muchas platafomas.
  • Ven el online como una necesidad, algo que tienen en cuenta al concebir y desarrollar el concepto de SF4.
  • No piensa poder customizar la apariencia de los personajes poniéndole gorritos y demás. Piensa que los personajes son demasiado icónicos, que ridiculizándolos con sombreros cutres o trajes de marinerito se cargaría el juego.
  • Piensa tratar la customización de forma diferente: el núcleo de la saga es ir viajando por el mundo peleando contra diferentes personas y creciendo haciéndote más fuerte, ganando nuevas habilidades y mejorando aquello que usas. Así quiere enfocar el modo online.
  • Ono conoce bien la tecnología online actual. Dice que es dificil saber cómo estarán las cosas de aquí a dos años.
  • Que si realmente quisieran tener el juego a 60FPS deberían poder enviar y recibir paquetes de información cada 18 milisegundos, cosa imposible a menos que las 2 personas que pelean estén a los dos extremos de un cable de fibra óptica.
  • Viéndolo de forma realista, lo enfocarán al revés que Sega, quien primero hizo el juego (VF5) y luego no quiso hacer el online porque pensó que no se podría jugar a alto nivel y con garantías a su juego con la tecnología actual. Ono quiere que sea el juego el que se adapte a la tecnología disponible.
  • Están abordando este tema desde las primeras fases de desarrollo del juego para que no sea un problema, sinó que se convierta en una experiencia divertida.
  • No ve problema en que se pueda disfrutar del online hoy en dia. Conociendo las limitaciones tecnológicas, como que hay lag, tener ping alto o tengas un cableado malo en casa, piensa poder usarlas como ventaja. Piensa que hay formas de superarlo.
  • Los jugadores tendrán una forma de comunicar a los otros sus necesidades en cuanto a calidad de conexión, para por ejemplo saber que se van a enfrentar a un usuario con mucho lag y hacerlo igualmente, o que dos jugadores con excelentes conexiones jueguen como si estuviesen en una misma máquina arcade.
  • Tienen pensadas muchas cosas para poder optimizar la forma de trabajar del online, haciendo que las partidas sean más suaves.
  • A Ono le encanta la idea de usar micro-transacciones para descargar via on-line nuevas cosas como personajes o escenarios en lugar de volver a sacar a la venta un juego entero con pocos cambios, pero dependerá de lo que los usuarios y Capcom les dejen hacer.
  • Por ello piensa que será dificil adaptarse al nuevo mercado de descargas por la tradición de Capcom de sacar a la venta el mismo producto con pocos cambios. Hasta de aquí a un año o dos no lo sabrá con certeza.
  • Preguntan que si al querer recuperar a gente que ya no juega a este género intentarán usar el uso simple del Wiimote como cuando hicieron el Capcom vs Snk 2 EO para Gamecube, donde se hacia un especial sólo moviendo el analógico en una dirección.
  • Ono responde que el juego se adaptó bien al mercado de GC, pero que ahora no es esa la idea, ya que quieren que la gente vuelva al control clásico de 8 direcciones de movimiento y seis botones de ataque. No quiere hacer un nuevo sistema de control, quiere proteger el clásico por encima de todo.
