Makoto Tsuchibayashi: el creador de Dante

Bueno, después del extenso post que hicimos sobre Daigo Ikeno, continuamos con nuestros reportajes con nuevo autor, esta vez le toca el turno a Makoto Tsuchibayashi, creador de Dante y más conocido por ser diseñador de los personajes de Sengoku Basara.

Tsuchibayashi se encarga básicamente del arte conceptual y el diseño de personajes de videojuegos.

Su estilo gráfico destaca por sus colores vivos y diseños sucios basados en pinceladas, siendo este un estilo muy japonés asemejándose a su estilo antiguo de dibujo o a la caligrafía oriental.

Currículum de Makoto Tsuchibayashi:

Empezó a colaborar con Capcom a finales de los años 90 para realizar texturas para la primera parte de Rockman Dash (Megaman Legends); pero fue en el proyecto Devil May Cry donde destacó con la creación de su protagonista, el cual trabajó en profundidad junto con Hideki Kamiya proporcionándole esa chulería y ese carisma al personaje, haciendo paralelismos con el protagonista de Space Adventure Cobra.

Después de convertirse en todo un éxito, Ikeno se encargaría de la secuela de Devil May Cry, mientras que Tsuchibayashi se desvincularía del Capcom Team para convertirse en un artista independiente y trabajar de Freelance.

Años después Capcom lo volvería a contratar para encargarle todo el diseño de un nuevo proyecto que tenían entre manos; esta nueva propuesta, que como pasó en el proyecto Onimusha, también estaría basada en el japón feudal.

No sería hasta princípios del 2005 cuando detallaron el nombre definitivo del juego y que explicaran los primeros detalles. Sengoku Basara (2005), llamado en occidente Devil Kings, sería la respuesta de Capcom a la saga Shin Sagokumuso (Dinasty Warrior) una saga de juegos muy famosa y dotada de grandes ventas en Japón.

No tardaría en aparecer una secuela un año después, Sengoku Basara 2 (2006) en la que Tsuchibayashi volvió a encargarse nuevamente del diseño de personajes y el arte conceptual.

A parte de los trabajos mencionados anteriormente este diseñador ha trabajado para otros juegos de otras compañías. Se encargó del diseño de personajes del nuevo Shinobi (2002) de Playstation 2, para Sega.
