GDC 2008: Conferencia de Masafumi Takada (actualizado)

Masafumi Takada es un compositor musical que actualmente está trabajando en Grasshopper, y que en varias ocasiones ha trabajado para juegos de Capcom. Con la celebración del evento de la Games Developer Conference, realizó una conferencia de media hora de duración en la que habló sobre su experiencia desarrollando la música para Resident Evil: Umbrella Chronicles, God Hand, Killer 7 y No More Heroes.

Explicó que al diseñar la música para videojuegos se fija en algún aspecto del mismo, algún sentimiento y lo plasma intenta plasmar lo mejor que puede en el juego. Además, trata de repetir ciertos aspectos dentro de la banda sonora para hacer llegar mejor al jugador el universo del juego.

Para Resident Evil: Umbrella Chronicles, Takada intentó incrementar el tempo del juego respecto a otros Resident Evil acelerando la música, usando instrumentos más rítmicos y melodías más emocionantes a traves de instrumentos como guitarras eléctricas.

Respondió que sólo ha trabado en la nada convencional Grasshopper, por lo que cree que tiene un rol más grande y respetado que la mayoría de compositores japoneses.

Entre varias preguntas técnicas de los asistentes, Masahiro Sakurai (creador de Kirby y Super Smash Bros, colaboró en Meteos) le preguntó a Takada por qué tiene un gusto tan ecléctico respecto a los géneros musicales (Takada ha remezclado la canción del final de Yoshi’s Story para el Super S.B. Brawl), a lo que respondió “porque fácilmente se cansa” de la misma cosa una y otra vez.
