GameTrailers ha dedicado un capítulo de su gran sección sobre juegos retro Screw Attack al gran Tiger Road, uno de los pocos clásicos de Capcom que pese a su gran calidad nunca tuvo una segunda parte.

Originalmente salió en para recreativas allá por 1987, y por su popularidad recibió los correspondientes ports, algunos de ellos de no muy buena calidad, para ordenadores de la época como Amstrad CPC, Amiga, Atari ST, Commodore 64 y Spectrum, además de la consola NEC TurboGrafx (PC-Engine en Japón), además de incluir el arcade emulado en el recopilatorio Capcom Classics Collection Vol.2 lanzado para PS2 y Xbox.

Era un beat ’em up plataformero en el que controlabas a un monje shaolin llamado Lee Wong, quien debía rescatar a los niños secuestrados por el malvado Ryu Ga Doh. El desarrollo era de scroll horizontal, con frecuente plataformeo y peleas con enemigos.

Para ello podías usar una gran cantidad de armas, como lanzas o hachas, y usabas algún power-up especial como la capa voladora en determinadas fases. Parecía una mezcla de Ghouls’n Ghosts y Black Tiger de temática de fantasía oriental en la que aparecían incluso dragones o vampiros chinos.

Contaba con la música de Tamayo Kawamoto (Pirate Ship Higemaru, Black Tiger, Ghosts and Goblins, Ghouls’n Ghosts, Commando, Section-Z, Legendary Wings, Forgotten Worlds, Bubble Bobble, Puzzle Bobble, Ninja Warriors…), y era difícil como pocos.
