¡Me ha llegado el Hori Street Fighter IV Stick!

Esta semana me ha llegado el arcade stick para PS3 de Hori lanzado en Japón con motivo de Street Fighter IV. Básicamente es el modelo HRAP3 (Hori Real Arcade Pro 3) pero con una ilustración del juego, y con colores diferentes para los botones.

Funciona a las mil maravillas en la PS3 y en PC con el emulador MAME. Me ha encantado ver que tanto el Windows como el emulador lo reconozcan automáticamente sin necesidad de instalar drivers ni nada por el estilo.

A diferencia de los arcade sticks de SFIV lanzados por MadCatz en América, el Hori funciona con los juegos de PS2 en las PS3 con retrocompatibilidad. Esto se debe a que en PS2 los mandos no funcionan a menos que estén certificados.

El modelo HRAP3 cuando salió tampoco iba, hasta que actualizaron el firmware de la consola con la correspondiente certificación. Por tanto, aunque los MadCatz no funcionen de momento con los juegos de PS2 es bastante probable que lo hagan en un futuro cercano.

Pero hay otras cosas en las que el mando de MadCatz Street Fighter IV Tournament Edition (el de gama alta) es mejor. El HRAP3 usa botones de marca Hori (aunque son fácilmente intercambiables), en lugar de Sanwa como el MadCatz de gama alta, cuenta con una sóla velocidad de turbo para los botones en lugar de 3, y no tiene compartimento para guardar el cable.

Por lo demás, son muy parecidos. En sus dimensiones, en el modelo de palanca Sanwa, que además puede usarse como cruceta, analógico izquierdo o analógico derecho, su disposición de los botones principales, el que tengan turbo, no es inalámbrico para evitar latencias, etc.

Vamos, que en MadCatz lo usaron como principal inspiración al ser el mejor stick del mercado, y lo superaron al ponerle botones Sanwa y algunos detalles más.

Lo compré en PlayAsia por $119.90 más $66.90 de gastos de envio (UPS 24 horas, no dejan usar uno más barato), y venía con un cupón de $5 de descuento para otra compra. Vamos, que me ha salido 140,95€.

Por cierto, me venían incluídas unas pegatinas muy grandes, que son las que se usan en la recreativa para mostrar la lista de movimientos de los luchadores.

Disculpad la calidad de las fotos, en la oficina sólo podía hacerlas con móviles.  ¡Ah! Las figuras las tengo siempre en el ordenador, no vienen con el mando.

Le encargas a un carpintero la caja de madera que te sale por cuatro duros, y lo montas usando un mando compatible con PS3/PS2 de los mas baratos. Ademas puedes poner los botones en la posición que te de la gana, ya que esa forma que traen los mandos de HORI esta copiada de los arcades japoneses, y es así por que normalmente los jugadores están muy juntos. La forma mas apropiada y ergonómica de colocar los botones es como los traía el mando antiguo de la consola NEO-GEO.

    Ademas, los mandos HORI están diseñados para japoneses, y en mi caso por ejemplo, se me antojan pequeños, ya que la bola de la palanca se me clava en la mano, ya que los japoneses son mas pequeños que los europeos por norma.

    Mas o menos yo me monte un mando de esta manera, y me salio todo por unos 60€.
