Capcom anuncia oficialmente Lost Planet 2

Tras algún que otro rumor, pistas y desmentidos, Capcom mostró el pasado lunes un vídeo en el Xbox Live Marketplace  y ayer pasó una nota de prensa confirmando oficialmente que están trabajando en Lost Planet 2.

Estará ambientado 10 años después de la primera parte, en un planeta E.D.N III ahora parcialmente terraformado, por lo cual ya no estará completamente cubierto de hielo sinó que también contará con junglas tropicales y otros tipos de localizaciones.

En esta ocasión, en lugar de centrar el argumento en un único personaje, los jugadores podrán crear y customizar sus propios piratas espaciales, quienes participarán en varias historias que podrán ser disfrutadas junto a tres amigos más en modo cooperativo on-line.

Como es de esperar, su apartado técnico mostrará una mejora notable respecto a la primera parte, y añadirá nuevos Akrids de tamaño considerable junto a nuevas armas y acciones que aportarán más posibilidades tácticas a la jugabilidad.

Dicho título estrenará el motor MT Framework 2.0 de Capcom, una versión evolucionada del que usaron Lost Planet, Dead Rising, Devil May Cry 4 y Resident Evil 5.

La principal característica de dicho motor es su uso del multi-threading para aprovechar al máximo el diferente número de procesadores y núcleos de cada plataforma de nueva generación (PS3, 360 y los diferentes tipos de procesadores para PC), sacando el máximo provecho de cada arquitectura.

De momento Capcom no ha hablado de cuando publicarán el juego y sólo ha confirmado que saldrá para Xbox 360,  aunque en ningún momento ha confirmado la exclusiva.

Habiendo escuchado las palabras de Inafune, viendo que es una nueva evolución de su motor multiplataforma, escuchando los rumores y conociendo la estrategia multiplataforma de la empresa para sus títulos principales, nos extrañaría mucho que no apareciese también en PS3 y PC, al menos un poco después.

Todo apunta a que Capcom y Microsoft tienen un acuerdo de márketing, pues recientemente la demo de Resident Evil 5 sólo fué anunciada para las cuentas Gold de Xbox-360 en su nota de prensa, aunque también salió a la semana siguiente tanto para PS3 como para las cuentas Silver.
